Help support the 2017 Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association Stallion Directory

After the success of last year’s stallion directory, The Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association will produce their 2017 Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association Stallion Directory to promote our Maryland based stallions.

The Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association’s primary function is to promote breeding in Maryland with a particular emphasis on the Maryland Sire Stakes program. We believe we need to showcase and promote the exciting stallions we have standing in Maryland.

This is a costly, time consuming endeavor to produce a high quality directory.  However, this 8 ½ x 11 booklet showcasing the stallions standing in Maryland is a vital tool to grow our breeding business in Maryland.  The directory will have pedigrees for all stallions standing in the state for free.

However, pedigrees just don’t tell the entire story.  The 2017 Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association Stallion Directory offers stallion owners an opportunity to showcase your stallion and we encourage all stallion owners to participate.

It is also very important that we promote the outstanding partners in the industry such as veterinarians, breeding and foaling facilities, feed stores and other industry participants.  We encourage every partner to participate by buying an advertisement to promote their horse related services and farms to our industry.

Please download the Advertising Packet by clicking here for a list of advertising opportunities available to you.   We hope you will participate by advertising in the 2017 Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association Stallion Directory and keep in mind that we can even help design your ad for you if you do not one have ready made.

If you have any questions you can contact our editor Gina Maybee at 301-512-3552 or mdbreeders@live.com .  Please remember the deadline to reserve your space is December 23, 2016.

MSBA’s 2017 Maryland Standardbred Stallion Directory Photo Contest

2016-stallion-directory

The Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association is hosting a photo contest for the cover of the 2017 MSBA Maryland Standardbred Stallion Directory.  The contest is open to all foals sired by a Maryland Stallion.

Submissions can be submitted to mdbreeders@live.com and the deadline for submissions is 11:59pm December 23, 2016.  When submitting your photo please include photo credits along with the foal’s name, sire, and dam information.  We recommend photos that have a portrait orientation and are hi-resolution but we will consider all photos.  Photos submitted but are not selected for the cover will be utilized throughout the directory.

“For many years the Maryland Standardbred Sire Stakes program has flailed in the uncertainty, now with an infusion from VLT Revenue the Sire stakes program is in a state of revitalization.  The stallions standing in Maryland deserve to be showcased” MSBA President Dan Myer stated.

Stallion Owners, Breeding Farms, veterinarians and any other parties who offer services to the Maryland Standardbred Industry should visit the MSBA 2017 Stallion Directory Ad Reservation Form for more information on how to be a part of the Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association’s 2017 Stallion Directory.

Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners Association, Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association and Rosecroft Raceway Team Up to Assist the Horsemen at Classy Lane

The leaders of the Maryland Standardbred racing industry teamed up to provide support to their fellow horsemen who were impacted by the horrible fire at Classy Lane Farm in Ontario. The CSOA and MSBA each contributed $1000.00 each and Rosecroft Raceway, a Penn National Gaming Company matched those donations by contributing $2000.00 was mailed from the Maryland Standardbred Horsemen’s Assistance Fund on February 10, 2016 to the Classy Lane Barn Fire fund.

“The Classy Lane Farm fire is a nightmare every horseman must fear.  Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims and we wanted to show our financial support to our fellow horsemen who were devastated.  We are also grateful for Penn National Gaming matching our contributions and for their expression of support to the Standardbred industry,” said Thomas Cooke, President of CSOA.

MSBA President Dan Myer stated, “Our hearts just break for our fellow horsemen who were impacted by this tragic event. Our industry has never failed to rally around our fellow horsemen when someone is faced with tragedy and I am pleased we can play a role in helping.  It is refreshing to see breeders, horseman and a racetrack come together for such a worthy cause.”
